Prayer: Touching the Lives of Others

Read Galatians 5:22-23. 22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control.
This week, Lord, our lives will be touching other lives. Our prayer is that the meeting will damage no one we meet. We pray that because of meeting us, others will have less despair and more hope, less sadness and more joy, less sickness and more health, less doubt and more faith, and will feel the coldness of life less and the warmth of life more.
There are only a few lives so close to our lives in which we have the power to make a lot of difference. However, we can make a little difference in many lives. Part of the service we owe to you is to pay enough attention to even the most brief and most casual encounters of this week so that life will seem a bit better and brighter to all those whose paths intersect with our lives. We pray today that others will see in us goodwill, kindness, humor, honesty, and respect.
Without saying a word about faith, our manner can make its witness to the faith we hold. Should the witness of our words be called for, help us to speak with clarity and grace about the faith that is in us.
Amen.
